car insurance for university students

Does anyone have any suggestions for car insurance for my daughter who will only use her car during holidays from university. Dont really want to have to pay the year ammount when the cr will not be used.

You can get temp insurance but for the amount of time they will be home (long summer, easter and christmas) it's likely to be just as expensive as full year cover.0

You can look at short term options (as long as the car has other insurance on it or you SORN it whilst she is at uni) but the "per day" rate is much higher than an annual policy would be.
If you aren't doing a SORN declaration then you must have insurance on it in which case just add her as a temporary additional driver for the periods she's home but there will probably be an admin fee on top of the additional premium so depending on how often she's home it may just be easier for her to be on it permanently0
