Used Car Warranty
Hi All,
My girlfriend bought a 2nd hand car from a dealer and paid extra for 3 months warranty, the car has now broken down (hopefully nothing major) and we are anticipating a dispute over the warranty end date.
The warranty agreement states 3 months after the purchase date.
She agreed to buy the car and paid a deposit (15%) on the 29th Jan, they then serviced and MOT'd the car (which they do as standard) and told us it could be collected on 4th Feb, this is when she paid the balance and completed the log book and drove the car away.
The car broke down on the 1st May and was taken into the dealer on the 2nd (following RAC recovery), they then rang up to say they checked their records and the warranty has expired. I think she should get them to complete the work and contest the warranty date when we go to collect. I'm just concerned they aren't going to budge or we have it wrong so wanted some other opinions please and what we can do if they do refuse to budge.
The log book and most importantly the warranty agreement both have the start date/ownership date as 4th Feb, where the purchase agreement was signed and dated 29th Jan.
Thanks.

Check out the sale of goods act 1979. Car is not fit for purpose, the sale of goods act should cover you for the 1st 6mths of ownership. http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/sale-of-goods/your-rights-buying-second-hand-cars/second-hand-cars-your-rights/
