Ideas to do with children without spending money

I was mooching around online, and came across this, which I thought might be of interest to some:

It's an American site, but even so, some of the stuff looked interesting - I looked at some items and thought "Ooh, I wish someone had done that with me when I was little".:o
Board Guides: The Family Moneysaving board seemed the sensible place to post it, but if it would be better somewhere else, please feel free to move it.:o

If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Some good ideas for keeping the kids amused this bank holiday, so I'm bumping up this thread.0

My paternal grandparents (I'm almost 50, so that dates me!) were amazing with me and my younger siblings - the bestest thing they ever did was to allow us access to a dressing up wardrobe - complete with make up, shoes, accessories, face paints, anything within reason. They'd bought all this from jumble sales and altered by my Gran on her sewing machine. We had such great fun dressing up, all of us, pretending we were going to a Ball! We'd don our finery, and then do a 'grand entrance' down the stairs (to applause from everyone else) then parade to the kitchen to demolish homemade jam tarts and sandwiches. Bliss, truly, those were good times.0

For families with children up to five years old, google to find out your local sure start children's centre, who provide a range of free services and activities (each community has access to one), with older siblings able to attend (as long as one child is under 5) for example during holiday periods. They don't all have websites, so worth a call.0
