I applied online for the Barclaycard Platinum, requested a BT of £4800. Gave all details from MBNA card. The application all seemed to go through ok and the last page said I'd get my new card within a few days. The only thing is, it didn't tell me what my credit limit is, so I don't know if it will be enough to cover the BT amount and leave some extra. Would it have prompted me to lower the requested BT amount if my credit limit isn't going to be high enough?

no it wouldnt. the card is agreed in principal and will be looked at by an underwriter. the credit limit will then be decided and you will get an email confirming acceptance and credit limit

I also didn't recieve my limit online not sure if it's a B/C thing, but I wanted £3800 for B/T and my credit limit was £4400, so don't be surprised if your credit limit is around 5-5.5k.

    Thanks for the replies.
Last time I opened a new card online to do a BT with a different card it did tell me, as I was completing the application, that the credit limit wouldn't be enough to cover the balance I wanted to transfer. That was a few years ago, and I decided not to go ahead with the application.
I'm glad I checked here about how Barclaycard would work, in case I need to look at transferring some to another card as well.
Hopefully they'll get back to me soon to let me know about my credit limt, as I need to get the money transferred before current 0% runs out on MBNA balance later this month.

I've just received an email from them, my credit limit more than covers the BT amount I need, in case anyone reads the thread with the same question, the email arrived about 24 hours after I did the online application. :T

I applied online for the Barclaycard Platinum card. The application was successful and I was given immediate access to mybarclaycard online account management. And straight away there was my approved credit limit.

Applied online and application was referred. Called them today and said it's been accepted with a 9k limit and the card is on it's way (sent yesterday). So mine was manually approved and not an automated acceptance. It will be interesting to see if I'm part of the accepted then rejected later crew, as I've read some horror stories on here about them. I do like the 25 months BT offer, was too tempting not to miss.
