Please help with car insurance!!!!!!!

Hi all, hope someone can help me, i had full no claims upto 5yrs ago. Since then i have been on block insurance (driving black cab) and on my partners insurance as a named driver. I have just bought my own car and phoned the insurance company i was with,they are saying my no claims dont count anymore and i have to start from scratch again is this true? im 44 and drove all my life i dont fancy having to start all over again, any advice or help??

    Unfortunately yes, it appears most companies will allow up to a two year break, any longer and you lose your NCB and have to start building it up again.

    Some insurers will mirror a company car discount onto a personal one.... not sure if they would consider doing it from your block insurance or not

    Although you have no NCB, your age and experience should help you get a relatively low quote.
    Obviously claims and conviction history counts, but if those are clear, you are in an advantageous posistion compared with both the young and the old.

    I'm the same age as you and I find motor insurance is very cheap.

    Have you considered contacting your partners insurance company to see if they will take your time as a named driver into account if you insure with them?
