My son spelled his friend's name as Sam instead of Samuel and they changed it no charge.

EasyJet changed a name from Tom to Thomas for me at no charge at the airport.
I am shocked that RyanAir has not used the opportunity to charge extra though, seeing as they're all about being cheap(ish) if you comply religiously with the T&C's.

Anyone tried using Photoshop to amend name yourself on a PDF boarding card?

Actually yes! It was only a basic error similar to above which wouldn't have changed the meaning of the name - a random j in the middle of the name. I changed it using Microsoft Paint and boarded without any issues.
  • I have booked flights for my mother and sister today and after realized that i have missed one letter out from my mothers first name. So after reading the forum I have called ryanair and they have fixed it free of charge. Very helpfull and received a new confirmation e-mail within 30 seconds from finishing a call :)
Took me about 3 hours to get through, but once I did she fixed it very quick :)

Website wanted £100 to change name, but as it was just a typo it was free once I called :):j

I called them, two names were mispelled, both names Daniel. They fixed the error free of charge, the gentleman on the phone was very, very nice. Thanks Ryanair.

To this day have NEVER had a problem with Ryanair I find them wonderful and fly with them at least 2x a year, don't know why so many people hate them :o

The service is fine so long as you play by their rules, but they do make themselves quite hard to like with all their silly games and heffalump traps.

First names don't seem to really matter, I know a couple of years ago I booked a ticket for my Dad who is known my his middle name not his first. I only realised my error the night before they were too travel.

My parents were stopped and questioned but let on with a warning not to do it again!

    This was Ryanair.
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

we are due to fly with Ryanair on Tuesday, my OH has just done the online check in with them..

To his horror he'd put our daughter on the booking with my surname (we aren't married and she has his surname!), ! don't know how he managed to do it - maybe just a copy and paste error!

He has altered it but has had to pay £110 for doing so!

He has emailed them explaining and we have all flown with Ryanair dozens of times as a family.. Do you think it's likely they'll realise it was a genuine mistake?

The only hope of resolving this kind of problem is by telephoning them. I doubt that they will even bother to read his email.
