Possible (new?) email scam

My wife got an email from amazon.com in her yahoo webmail. It said it was confirming cancellation of her order for a book, and giving a numerical link in blue for her to check the order. There were 2 other button links with no explanation in this email - yahoo's WOT alerted her, giving a red warning against each of the 3 links. In any case, she never orders from Amazon herself - we always do it through my account at amazon uk -so she was doubly suspicious, and deleted it without further ado.
This seems another one of those innocuous-looking scams which rely on the simple pretext of raising someone's curiosity just enough to persuade them to try one or other of the links, leading to who knows what. Unfortunately, I didn't think until too late that I could have got her to forward it to me, and I could have sent it to amazon.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

It will be a virus, like the recent Youtube messages.0

Aside from the order confirmation emails I get whenever I purchase something, virtually all the emails I've ever received from Amazon were in plaintext.
It was unlikely to have been a simple virus though; many threats come from a combination of infective agents working in concert whilst some simply rely on social engineering techniques to obtain valuable information.
I'm guessing those links would have led to a near-facsimile of one of Amazon's sign-in pages.0
