1) Try a different monitor cable
2) if you have two outputs on your graphics card, try the oother one
or 3) try the monitor connected to a laptop,or different computer. If it still says no signal, go to number one and do that.
Make sure the computer is actually on/loaded via HDD sounds, cpu sounds, also through lights.
try computer with different monitor if none of the above work.0 -

I recently had this issue with a monitor - it turned out to be the cable - if it got kinked in any way, I got the above message - so either change the cable or unkink ....

PC seems to be starting up OK. How do i know if there are two outputs on graphics card? Sorry not advanced in IT! Thanks.0 -
depends if you have recent motherboard (for onboard graphics) or graphic card. Essentially there'd be another (slightly different usually) connector near/next to the one you plug the monitor in usually. Sometimes it's hdmi, or a white/creamy looking one with "holes in it" which is a DVI connector.
I'd try the cables/different laptop/different monitor first, and then if those don't work, it can be worked out what exactly doesn't work.0 -
if you are still getting the problem, even after trying a different cable, and as others mentioned above.
disconnect the power cable, disconnect the monitor cable
take the left side of the pc off, usually 2 screws at the end of rear of the case. and push slide it backwards.
the graphics card would be the item in the middle slot. will be either brown or blue depending on age of computer. aka agp or pci-e, it may also have a power lead going into the graphics card.
remove card should also be 1 screw holding in on the left side, clean card edge the gold edge that was in the slot, with a soft. pref a microfibre cloth. before replacing card in slot, blow into the slot to remove any dust that may be in there. replace card, should here a click. replace screw, reconnect power and monitor lead. turn on pc,
Yes it is safe to have the side of the pc case off, just dont touch anything inside whilst pc is on, reason, check the fan is working.
if pc shows on monitor, replace side and do screws up.
note: i know its safe to have the side of and have the computer on, mine new computer been like it for the past 3months and my old computer was like it for 3 years.
recommendation: whilst you have the side of the pc, clean out any dust built up inside, use a soft brush, a woman makeup brush will do and use lightly, and a hoover on a low suction, or a can of compressed air.0 -

It is safe as long as you're sensible not to drop parts, fingers, cats, dogs, kids into the side whilst it's running. Aside from the loss of small body parts with some of the fans, you can quite easily break it if you go poking in there whilst it's running. Essentially unless you have a good reason to run it without its side, don't. Good reason being testing components, replacing components, and if it over heats dramatically.
Ahh the old over heaters, I remember that well with my own. It seemed to run nekkid (sideless case) for quite a long time!0 -
one thing I dont see mentioned here is that if the pc is set to a resolution/frequency that the monitor doesnt support then you might see the "no signal" message too.
In theory you should see the BIOS message before the PC boots though, so if you aren't seeing that either then it must be some other issue.0 -
Thanks for all the replies. I will try and locate a new cable and try it out first.0
