Trees, insurance claim cover, the work

My Mother owns a property that is rented out.
There has been major problems with cracks monitored over the past couple of years due to a tree. The council eventually arranged a contractor and the tree was taken down and the insurance company have instructed a company to carry out work starting in June. It was going to take at least 2-3 mths for the work, but suddenley is now 14 days ...
The house has been rented out for many years so the tenants are moving out whilst the work is being done which has been problematic as it is. As my Mum is getting older she has had enough of all the worry and problems this has brought so may sell the house once sorted out.
My concern is what is being covered under the house insurance.
She has been sent a schedule of works but it does not mention sorting out floors nor a huge crack under the stairs going through to the kitchen. Over the past couple of years a builder has had to go round and adjust doors that cannot open / close due to the movement. There are cracks in internal and external walls and even bits of plaster falling down.
The insurance company’s representative Crawfords are not being over helpful. They have not scheduled to take up carpets as they say one of their representatives walked on the floor and that there is not a problem or they would have noticed!!! It does not make much sense to us with the major cracks in the walls and ceiling and feel the floors must be properly checked.
What I am wanting to ascertain is making sure the work is done properly and importantly completely covering all areas as they seem to be taking short cuts before even starting. Also what is the insurance company responsible for i.e. new flooring, redecorating, replastering, kitchen units etc. etc. There is of course artex so they are going to redo the ceilings ...
I know my Mum is exhausted of it and does not have the energy to fight the insurance company so want to see what I can do. Unfortunately I have ME and am fairly ill but want to do what I can – if I was 100% I would have taken this over earlier but had not realised quite how much my Mum has given up.
I just want to try and help my Mum. All advice welcome.
