Records

Can anyone give a rough answer to this question?
Is there any money in boxed sets of LP's Bought in the 70's & 80's consisting of the Beatle’s, James Last and many other big names. I know that any answers would be estimates.

Cheers for now

The boxed sets are so heavy to post.

Get a record Price Guide Book and check them out in there.

Ive always found vinyl very hard to sell. Where a seller could get £25 easy peasy for a guns n roses picture disc, on ebay, you seem sell for under a tenner all the time.

    Same goes for CDs.

Amazon is ok for selling vinyl.

If they are albums with The Beatles as the artists (as opposed to Beatles tracks performed on the Hammond organ etc.), then maybe.
What a lot of people forget / don't realise is that The Beatles sold millions of LPs, so one of the standard issues will not be worth a great deal more than £5 to £10 if it's in mint condition, and rather less if the condition is worse.
There were however various different editions with different labels, or in some cases different mixes of tracks. These are of more interest, and while condition is still important, people will still buy ones in lesser condition for correspondingly lower prices.
The easiest way to determine exactly what you have is to have a look at the Record Collector Guide To Rare Records. Your local library may well have a copy. Don't worry if it's not the latest edition, as it will still help you identify the interesting issues.
The other thing to do would be to have a look on Esprit's website ( https://www.eil.com ) and see what they say about rarer issues (but ignore their prices).
I don't want to rain on your parade, but the chances are that you have the bog standard issues in less than mint condition, and may not even be worth your time putting on eBay. However, it's always worth a bit of investigation into these matters. My fingers are crossed that you've got interesting issues!
As far as the other records go, if it's things like James Last, Mantovani, Mrs Mills (Mrs Miller is a different matter), Rugby Songs, Readers Digest collections and the like, I have to say they will be worthless. Even some charity shops will turn them down these days.
It seems that almost everyone has a parent or grandparent who bought almost exactly the same records in the 1970s, and they all want to get rid of them. Even if there was some demand for this kind of easy listening or light orchestral stuff, the amount of copies available would far outstrip it.
If you put a fair bit of time into them you may be able to get a few pounds for them, but don't expect anyone to pay you loads for them.

    A harsh, but realistic answer!

If I've misunderstood the kind of things that you have, my apologies.
I used to work in a second hand record shop, so I have a good idea of what's saleable and what isn't.
If you want to PM me a list of the records that you have, I could probably give you an answer as to what would be the best thing for you to do with them.
(I do sell records on eBay, but only modern dance music, so I'm not after any old rarities cheap!)
