Last Minute but Half Term

Hi all,
I wasn't expecting to have a holiday this year but due to a house move falling through myself and my boyfriend have decided to have a last minute break. However we're both teachers and given that we're volunteering for the Olympics all summer, we can only go in June half term.....which is a matter of weeks away.
I've never done last minute before - I'm usually a forward planner so its stressing me out a tad!
Does anyone have experience of booking last minute but during school holidays? Are the prices likely to drop or will they keep climbing? We're looking to spend around £500 each.
We don't have major preference for where we'd like to go - ideally Egypt, but really just a nice All Inclusive somewhere. 4 or 5 star would be good. I usually get two weeks somewhere lovely for £700 when I book in advance!
TIA.

There's lots of factors that will affect this half term. Probably the biggest reason is if it keeps raining, that will make more people want to go abroad instead of stay in this country. Next is how much do the tour ops have left to sell if its a lot they'll reduce prices if its not they'll hold their price.
If i were you i should have a look at what there is and how much it is, if its what your prepared to pay and what you want then book it, if not keep looking. Some of it will depend on how many restrictions you have and how flexible you are.

You don't tend to get many bargains at half terms, compared to other school holidays, because everyone goes and comes back at the same time. This year in particular there are 2 bank holidays so I'm guessing it will be busier. But you never know unless you try...
We have had some excellent bargains flying from Glasgow in the English half term when the Scots aren't off, even with a 200 mile drive and overnight airport hotel and parking IIRC the last one came to about half the price of the same holiday from Manchester, and better flight times. Not sure if the Scots are off at the same time as us in June though...0 -
Have a look on skyscanner for flights then hotelscomparison for accom. we found daytime flights from liverpool- reus for £150 each then a 4* hb for 90 each. so £250 each for 4* hb with taxi transfers
only found this last week as i couldnt get below £400p/p on usual sites and was getting very frustrated as we are teachers and the 4th is my birthday!
Good luck - there are bargains but you may need to be creative0
