I was pick pocketed whilst on holiday in Spain

Trouble is I was sleeping at the time :o

I got an incident report number from the police but I told them the truth that I had fallen asleep.

Will this mean my holiday insurance won't pay up because I haven't ''taken all reasonable care to protect my belongings'' ?

I thought honesty would have been the best policy but now I'm thinking I should just have said I was mugged.

Now you've reported the crime there's no point wishing you'd have done something different.

The only way you'll find out of your insurance company will pay out is to contact them.

Where were you sleeping? were you drunk? if you crashed out somewhere and pickpockets robbed you then i'd say Insurance may be unhappy to pay out,On the other hand if you were sleeping in your hotel room and someone got in and stole from you Insurance should pay.

I think a little more info is required.

Yeah I suppose your right. Just wondered if anybody would be able to tell me if it was pointless even trying.

I lost a few hundred pounds worth of belongings and getting nothing back will be hard to take.

Suppose I learned some valuable lessons though like don't fall asleep in public and honesty isn't always the best policy. :D

I wouldn't have thought falling asleep would stop them paying out. People often fall asleep on the beach, or on train/plane journeys etc.

If you were lying pi88sed in the gutter may be a different story though!
