Losing secured tenancy

hello all
I am trying to help my parents move into sheltered accommodation from their 2 bedroomed HA house. My mum has lived in the same house for nearly 50yrs and is understandably upset about moving, but due to ill health there are few alternatives.
However, last night she said that by moving she will loose the secured tenancy she has with the HA and she does not want this to happen.
Is this a problem? I admit I know nothing about this, apart from a ST is a good thing to have!
Any advice gratefully received.
thanks

Can you contact whoever manages the sheltered accommodation ? It seems unlikely they would be able to evict vulnerable people but make sure you know the terms of the rental contract.0

Why does your mother think that sheltered accommodation is less secure than Secure Tenancy? Have you ever heard of aged and infirm people being slung out on the streets to fend for themselves? I haven't been paying that much attention but I know that I haven't0

OP - what exactly do you mean by sheltered accommodation?
What is provided, and who is the landlord (no need to give the full name, but is it a Hoisng Association, a Council or a Private Provider).
From your first post I assume that your mum was originally a Council Tenant and when the poperty transferred to a HA she maintained a secure tenancy. If she moves, then yes she will no longer be a secure tenant. However, many housing associations etc offer assured tenancies which offer most of the protection of a secure tenancy.0 -
If she's a secure tenant now and is transferring to a Registered Provider (Housing Association) then she will have an Assured Tenancy which as squinty says above is reasonably secure. If she is moving to a council property then she retains a secure tenancy. Any Introductory or Starter Tenancy regime will not apply to her - though some organisations forget this.
If she's going into a scheme run by a private provider then she might only have an assured shorthold tenancy which offers precious little security.0
