If you have creditors who you are making token payments to why not use this 'stashed cash' to pay them with (which makes me think thats why you have stashed the cash so you dont have to declare it so as to have to pay more)

Result, you dont have to protect your address and you would be out of debt.

    Seems simple to me.

Oh, for goodness sake, get over yourself mate. If it's any of your business my old address was a National Trust tied cottage that was being knocked down to make way for a trout lake! There are no 'innocent people' involved, and for your information, I am not the sort of person who would have exposed a family or whomever to the threat of my creditors coming to THEIR door. So, before you get on your high horse be sure to be in full possession of the facts. This forum really has become a mecca for bigoted, opinionated people who really don't want to help at all, merely impose their ill-informed judgements and opinions on to others. No worries, I'll sort my own problems out. Thanks to Taffy who offered the template letter, that was constructive - I do already have those in place though ta, i.e. requesting to be dealt with in writing only. However, as we know, some dca's have no such compunction in adhering to such requests.
OK, the old address has been knocked down. Apart from that, your approach to the problem could not be condoned. So, really, no apology form me. If I had not made my point, this thread would show that you were doing this subterfuge and putting another family at risk of the visits you don't want and no criticism of the subterfuge.

Really, if he has been advised by a debt helpline to act in a certain way, he should do so, particularly with his wife being home alone, and you hear reports of bailiffs entering through open windows, etc. Essentially, you start to think you should lock yourself in all day.

A couple of homes I have owned have had debts registered on them against people who did not have repayment schedules in place. They had absconded, leaving threatening letters to pile up at my property. That is not what SJ is doing. Moreover, I dealt with the letters by returning them all to sender, which is free. The problem went away after a little persistence on my part.

SJ only asked for a bit of advice, so I will give mine: SJ, ring the debt helpline again and ask them what they suggest. I hope it all works out for you.

Hello McKneff, I'm just curious as I don't know much about token payments, but how do you know that it means someone has stashed cash? Is that what it is?
    best wishes.
