Lastminute.com, Expedia, Opodo, Travelocity should all give you some prices to compare. A quick look at them shows rates of around £340+ for flights and two nights in a central hotel.

Have you been to NYC before? Two nights isn't a very long stay if it's your first trip!

How long would you reccommend for a first trip?

Also any advice about what it's like weather wise in September/October?

I am thinking of going transatlantic on QM2 and then flying back silverjet.
I think it might be a bit cold transatlantic in October.

Two nights is a short stay particularly for all that pollution that you will cause.

I've only been once, in December 2006, and stayed six nights, which I felt gave me enough time to 'get settled' and take in a good number of sights. Still a lot I didn't get to see, though. Just means I'll have to go back! :D

The cruise ship and the flights are already going anyway, with or without me on them :-)

For 2 nights you could stay on UK time to avoid jet lag.

For two nights in NYC by the time you get to the hotel and settle in and have a look around it will be time to come back! Done it for three nights and that was a bit of a let down previously 1 week or 2 but two nights is a lot of wasted money.

I just did 4 nights but the flights were timed so that we pretty much got 5 full days (arrived in the morning left at night) and that was about right. Would have liked another night looking back on it. Certainly wouldn't do less then 4 nights. There'd be very little point.
