Barcelona - advice needed

Morning all,
I would like some advice from people that have been to Barcelona please, as I'm going first thing tomorrow and have not really had the chance to prepare much.
I plan on doing the usual touristy thing as I am there on my own for approx 12 hours (since the rest of the group does not arrive until nearly midnight). Does anyone have any suggestions of things i can get up to after sundown? I could just plonk myself on a bar stool but I'll probably end up getting hammered before my mates get there.
Obviously would prefer money-saving suggestions but really anything that will keep me [relatively] safe from unscrupulous folk is appreciated.
Ta.

Just be *very* careful of pickpockets and "ladies of the night", especially in Las Ramblas area.0

Thanks guys. I am considering doing a hop-on/hop-off bus tour - will it be cheaper to buy this online before the trip or on the day itself?

Edit - i looked it up and it would appear that there is no discount for buying in advance.Knowledge is knowing that tomato is a fruit.

Open top bus tour is well worth the money. Visit the Hard Rock Cafe on Plaza de Espania (at the top of Las Ramblas)"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

So...i did buy an open-top bus tour online but as i arrived fairly late I never got to use it! The rest of the weekend was a stag do so it wasn't needed.
I am unable to get a refund for the e-ticket but i am told it is valid for 3 months so was planning on giving this away on this website since it is no longer of any use to me. Which sub-forum should i post this?Knowledge is knowing that tomato is a fruit.
