Desktop Icons Keep Moving Back

My desktop items keep being moved back after I put them where I want them everytime I reboot. I have unticked auto arrange icons hoping that would keep them in place but it doesnt. The only ones that are ticked are allign to grid and show desktop icons.

I found this on the net I think its for winxp but wasnt sure if I should download it, other people must have thois problem so thought it would be safer asking here

That will allow you to restore the layout in case the problem happens again, however it won't fix the underlying problem.

Try no. 54 'Save Settings on Exit' at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm. Right-click the tweak and Save As. Double-click the saved .reg file and click Yes to the prompt.

I think this is the one I installed on my 98SE system to solve the problem of the children moving icons around, or the icons having moved after coming out of a game which has been running at a different resolution from the desktop. It works a treat.
