how can i trace 1st class mail thats gone missing

can anyone advise me a way i can go about tracing 1st class mail(not recorded) that's gone missing!?

over the past few weeks I've had 4 parcels go missing in the post, nothing of any great value but i hate just sitting back and letting Royal Mail get away with it

One was my daughters birthday present, another a Cravendale Kermit backpack and two were Ebay purchases, one of which I'm quite upset about as i know i probably wont get it again!

How do i go about contacting Royal Mail and actually speaking to a human instead of going round and round in circles listening to the automated hotline

I know that i should've had the Ebay item sent by Recorded but it wasn't an option on the sellers page so didn't really think about it....but there must be a way of tracing parcels otherwise why give you proof of posting slip

any advice would be really helpful!!!!!!thank you!

Have you checked your local delivery office, in case they're there. You don't always get a card if the postie can't deliver.

You can't track First Class post. You can't track Recorded First Class post, but you can see if it has been signed for upon delivery. The only post that the Royal Mail can track for you is Special Delivery.

Presumably you will have asked for a free proof of postage when you posted the items so use that and put a claim in with the Royal Mail for the missing parcels. You can download the claim form from their website.

If it is someone else who sent it to you then they have to put in the claim. If they can't send you the item again then they need to refund you.

Fill in this form on the Royal Mail website.

Actually that is a really good point. In fact, the postie may think he is being really helpful and is leaving the parcels somewhere totally not obvious for you so ask them and either they may acknowledge that they have the parcels at the depot or the postie may remember where he has left them for you.

You could try looking up your local sorting office number in the telephone directory or online.

Our local number hasn't been answered for about a year - I checked with postie in case there was a better time of day to try.

The best time to call your sorting office is in the morning and I have found them very helpful.

If ebay parcels have not arrived at your address contact the sellers and inform them of the missing items. Its up to the seller to refund you in full and make a claim from royal mail (if they can).

If parcels are not being delivered they could be sat at your sorting office. Call them and ask them to check. They will always check for you and you can then re-arrange delivery.

    xx

I don't lie and there's no need to be offensive.
