Holiday rental price gone up

Hi,
I'm new to the forum so sorry if this is in the wrong place but I wanted to sound people out on this.
In January a group of friends and I booked a big house in France for a week for all our families and kids. We paid 3025 for a week in May. I've just gone to the site to look at the place again and the price is now 2k for the two weeks either side of our booking !
I'm slightly peeved by this and feel that if anything late bookings would be more expensive.
Anyway the question is what would you do?
Thanks
Sorry just realised subject should say price gone down !

Unfortunately there is not a lot you can do, that is the nature of renting a property. Who knows, if you had waited another week then it may have fallen further. It is out of season so should not be that expensive anyway.
On a personal note, we have always found that not booking anything, and simply turning up and enquiring is cheaper by far (but more risky).
That does seem an awful lot to pay for a big house (chateau?) in France for one week in May.0 -
That's undoubtedly annoying, but it's the nature of the travel industry.
Hotels, airlines, car hire companies, ferry operators; they all do it. You get as much money as possible from people initially and then when it looks like you're going to sending out empty planes or having your rental property sitting empty for a week, you drop the price to get people in.
They rely heavily on people wanting to plan in advance what they want to do for their trip and booking things months ahead.
If I were you I'd speak to the families involved and see if they can flex the weeks. Change to one of the other weeks, wait for the price on your original week in come down (which it invariably will) and then re-book.
That depends on canx fees, though.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Is the week you've booked a school holiday? If so, then yes, it will be more expensive, and the weeks either side (when there's no school holiday) will be cheaper. School holidays are always a lot more expensive due to the high demand.0

You booked in January, so they had 4 months to sell the other weeks, Now, there is just a week or so, so they have reduced the prices to sell rather than be empty.(".)0

Its a bit like supermarkets reducing the price of goods on the last day before binning them.
You were happy to book at that price so have a great holiday and if the owners are nice they may give you a bottle or two as you paid the full price.0
