Crocosmia. Plant bulbs across 10 inch diameter and they look very good, try mixing with low growing grasses like Festuca Glauca and japanese blood grass. Divide grasses occasionally.0

You want Perenials, try shrubs like st johns wort lovely hedge/bush shrub with yellow flowers.
ground cover plants are ideal for edging, have a look around your local garden center, ours always has staff who help us all the time.
Bulbs are good but the slugs and snails and god know what else eat them so over the course of a year you see them vanish, trust me we tried them, now we planted lots of shrubs many flowering right now so our garden is already colourful.
If you want the actual plant names pm me and i'll get my folder of the shrubs and plants we have in our garden,i'd show a photo but i don't know how to put them on here.0
