Can i buy my mothers house

Hi, this is my first time in a forum so please excuse any mistakes I may make.
I need advice, my mother suffered a stroke 3years ago and is now left side paralyzed, so is unable to return to her job as a nurse. She has a mortgage on her house which we are struggling to pay as Income support do not offer much financial help for disabled home owners.
I gave up my job as a teacher to care for her and my young children so I cannot offer much financial help either
I recently had a light bulb moment where I thought what if I buy my mothers house and rent it back to her whilst she claims housing benefit, she gets to stay in her home of 20years and the mortgage payments will be met. Is this legal though?? I don't want to get myself or mother into any trouble.

I'm finding it hard to help pay her bills and my own mortgage and bills,
if i was to rent the property to my mother would she not then be entitled to more help as a tenant than a home owner? so that would then relief some financial responsibility on us both?...0 -
You can't claim HB/LHA for a property you used to own.0

If you are finding it hard to pay all of the commitments, the last thing you should think of is remortgaging. This will be the road to financial ruin for you.I don't owe on anything, so was hoping that would help, I also thought maybe i could re mortgage my home

Remortgaging will give you a money pile which is not a great deal of use in itself. And you will have to pay interest on this money pile on top of the bills. So a small amount of the money pile will go each month to topping up the bills and a larger amount to paying the interest. This will be great for a year or 2.
But one day, the money pile will be all used up and you will still have all the bills to pay and the interest for the loan for the money pile which you have spent.

Would your mother not be entitled to an early pension on the grounds of her ill-health?
You should not have to pay your mother's bills.
Is your mother receiving all the help to which she is entitled?

If her house were to be sold would there be enough equity for her to purchase a one bed ground floor flat outright?

Everyone would just do that if it was possible. Just sell houses to each other, 'rent' off each other and claim benefits...0 -
Your mother should be able to apply to the council for supported housing. If offered a place, she can apply for housing benefit to pay her rent while waiting for her house to sell. She would have fewer worries with bills and would have access to help if she needed it. Once the house sells, she can use the equity to pay her rent until it falls below the permitted level.0

In short, get shot of mums house and move her in with you were you can look after her better and cheaper alround.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Can you move in with her or vice versa and rent out the remaining property to help you financially?0
