Be aware of car insurance deals

I got my renewal and went on comparison sites to see if I could get a better deal. I got what I thought was a cheaper offer with lower excess and courtesy car, where mine didn't cover for that. I did the deal. When I came to downloading the certificate of insurance, I noticed a very important point. The insurance did not cover me to drive other vehicles, not belonging to me on a third party only cover. This can in some cases be useful to me. I was under the impression that all comprehensive insurances for over 25's automatically gave this sort of cover. In this age of trying to get a bargain, it looks as though we need to check and double check the cover we are actually being offered. In the end I had to cancel the new policy (cost me £25 to do that!) and go with my original company. Almost a day or searching and it finished up costing me more and got a few more grey hairs in the process!:(
Keep on trucking!

I specifically check this now. Mine was reworded this year.

Excludes driving any vehicles that is not insured already.

Its a handy thing to have, In case of an emergency being able to drive another car even though only covered 3rd party.

Too many people abusing it so they are clamping down.

Lots of companies don't cover you for another car these days.

Seems a pointless exercise as it is only cover for 3rd party or perhaps too many claims were being received from people driving vehicles which were beyond their rated (insurance) capability to drive.

DD had auto renewal on Tesco and checked comparison sites, got best quote and phoned Tesco. Got £69 shaved off £390. Worth taking your best quote and doing same to any company, assuming satisfied with current one.

There are at least a few of us :j and to be honest the prices have become far more reasonable in the last couple of years. I'm in BD2 which was classed as inner city (its 3.5 miles out) so maybe they have changed that but my costs have come down to acceptable levels now where they were stupid a few years back. I'm 50 now so its not that I came out of the 20's age group. Even my daughter who is 27 saw her celica premium drop last year.

In an emergency, a proper, true, emergency, you can pretty do much whatever needs to be done to save life(s). If caught, the Police will have to process you just the same but if it goes to court, that's when the extenuating circumstances kicks in.
I know of 2 friends that broke the law in respect to motoring, one was driving without insurance, but due to it being an 'emergency' they 'got off' with it.

However, what you might class as an emergency and what the courts class as an emergency might, probably will be two different things!
