Dormant Current Accounts - Beware!

Beware Santander ....
A word to the wise: I switched my current account to First Direct from a Santander online-only account, but because I was no longer paying in the minimum amount each month, they charged me a fee. Each month.
They did contact me to tell me about it, but only ten months later when the subsequent fees and charges had reached three figures.
Because it was an online, paper-free account, they "assume I will monitor the account", which of course I didn't because I was no longer using it.
I feel not warning me of this, when there is a clear change in the pattern of use of the account, amounts to sharp practice.
Santander do not.
Don't get caught out in the same way!

Think this is just another case of the account holder not reading the T&Cs.

The OP doesn't mention instructing Santander to close the account, in which case he should assume some responsibility for the problem. It's always a good idea to assume that an account is open until notified of the closure in writing, particularly when dealing with the santander clowns.0
