Mortgage Protection ASU claim advice.

Hi everyone.

We would be really grateful if somebody could give some advice.

Our policy was taken out in 2005 for accident, sickness and unemployment cover, at the time we got our mortgage.

It is a 50-50 cover for myself and my partner.

We were told the insurance was free for the first 6 months and then we could cancel, but we never did.

We are both employed and both would receive enough sick pay to cover the mortgage payments if that was to happen. This was mentioned to the sales person at the time.

We are struggling just like everybody else in these difficult financial times. Our mortgage payment to Skipton BS is £551 a month including MPPI cover. We would like to cancel the cover with skipton first and then find a cheaper policy premium. We also feel that the salesperson was pushing us into taking out the mppi cover from skipton in order for our mortgage application to go through.

We would like to know whether we have reasonable grounds to claim back the money due to being mis-sold because of our employment sick pay, joint policy and a pushy salesperson offering 6 months free cover.

If anybody thinks we have a good claim please could they provide us with a template letter so that we could start proceedings.

If also somebody thinks we have no grounds for a claim can they let us know also, then we wont waste anybodys time.

Kind Regards

What evidence do you have to support that allegation?

The sales people are required to be pushy. They cant break rules but they can disturb and use sales techniques on you. The fact you want to take out cover elsewhere suggests no wrong doing.

Thanks for your reply your interest is very much appreciated.

We dont have any evidence to support the allegation. To be honest it was over 6 years ago that we sorted out the mortgage. All we can remember is that we felt pressurized into taking out the ppi to help with our application, the sales person would get her commision, we would keep it for the free 6 month period then cancel. Unfortunately we never did.

The only benefit of seeking a new policy would be to cover for unemployment.

Most bank staff don't get commission on the sale of PPI. So, it is probably best not to make such allegations in a complaint. You should stick to facts. Otherwise it can harm your complaint.

    That doesnt make it mis-sold.

But it shows you want the cover.

All that makes you sound like the ideal bank customer. They love selling their products to low knowledge consumers. However, again, it doesnt make it mis-sold. You seem to have buyer remorse rather than being mis-sold.
