Couple travel insurance

I hope someone can shed some light on this for me....
I'm off on holiday shortly and have taken out travel insurance from a well known company. We have just been informed (4 days before we are due to leave) that as we are a couple that doesn't live together yet we are unable to take out travel insurance out as a couple. Does anybody know why? The company i took it out with were unable to answer. That got me thinking, if you took your children on holiday and took out family travel insurance but you didn't live in the same house (if you had split up) could you not have a family travel policy?
Many thank!

It could be because of the way they classify a "couple" for insurance purposes. Maybe this company classifies it as 2 partners sharing an address.0

I don't know why but it is pretty standard, and will almost certainly have been in the T&C when you took out the policy. If you just didn't read it properly you will find it difficult to argue against. But you may be able to find policies that do cover - if not then you will have to take out separate. I guess that if they didn't put the same address rule, then any set of friends could take out insurance together
Regarding the family thing my 2 sons live with me and OH, but his kids live with their mother. We couldn't find a policy that allowed for this so had to ring up when trying to book insurance. It took us a couple of tries to find somewhere that would let us take his kids on one family policy0
