hello
all the time when im or anyone else is using the pc , it keeps making those engine noises as if the computer is re-loading or re-starting up , its getting very annoying. it never used to do it. we have norton anti-virus 2006 we have over 200 days left on it , i keep doing scans on it to see if we have a virus but we dont , im not loading anything new in or anything. i know computers make noises but this is silly. it has a break for a little short while then it does it again , it's just so annoying..
we have had this pc now for 2 years in august its a medion, we got it from toys r rus. also sometimes it can run a bit slow and have trouble loading up pages.
see you from kerry..
ps/
5.53am starts making noise - 5.56am stops making noise for a little bit - 5.57am starts making noises again. this just happens all of the time . there is no disc in cd drive , but it sounds like something is re-loading or re-booting..

sounds (sorry for pun) as if you fan is coming to the end of its life, maybe the power fan or the CPU fan either way you will need to replace it as soon as poss as overheating will damage your pcSave 12k in 2020 #19 £12,429.06/£14,0000

the fan in my PC (a HP Pavillion) has a fan which is controlled by a temp sensor, so it only kicks in when it needs to.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

I'd run a spyware check first of all.
It could be something making your processor run at maximum, thus making the processor fan kick in to cool it down.
Try and see if there's a process running at 100% or similiar.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del together (once), then choose the processes tab.
Check the cpu column and see if anything's running constantly that shouldn't be.0 -
there is a (image name system idle process ) - (user name SYSTEM ) - ( cpu between 99-83 ) - ( mem usage 28k)
not sure if this means anything..

Sounds like the fans, the fans usually only kick in when the PC is at or above a certain temperature. A couple of things you can do,
1. Switch the PC off and open the case, using a can of compressed air blow out any dust on the heatsinks and fans as this can cause overheating. You can buy the compressed air at Maplins or PC World or any computer shop. Don't use a vacuum cleaner as it can generate static.
2. You could look at replacing whichever fan is making the noise, they're cheap to buy and easy to fit.
"there is a (image name system idle process ) - (user name SYSTEM ) - ( cpu between 99-83 ) - ( mem usage 28k)"
Don't worry about this, it means your is not doing anything so there is nothing hogging your CPUIt's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
