Hi
I'm having trouble with the touchpad on my laptop. It's hard to explain - when I click to close a tab on the top of the page it is closing the next tab too, when I hover over a link it seems to automatically click on it. When I move from one tab to the other it often "picks up" the tab and moves it round the page.
It is also all over the place when I try and cut and paste things a spreadsheet.
It is also highlighting blocks of text for no reason as I move the mouse around a page.
It's a righ pain! Does anyone have any ideas please? It's a Toshiba laptop and I'm using Internet Explorer 7.
Thank you.

Go into the Control Panel and change the touchpad settings to remove all of the features that you don't use - for example, scrolling, tapping, pinch zoom, etc.
You may also be able to reduce its sensitivity, depending on which version of Windows and which driver utilities (e.g. Synaptics Setup utils) you have installed.0 -
Thank you for your help. I've tried that and is has made it a bit better, I've done something worse now my clicking about - the keyboard won't type!! I don't know what I've done - having a nightmare (am scared to let the laptop "go to sleep" as I wont be able to type the password in!

I would reboot the laptop.
However, if you are concerned about the password, you should be able to remove it by going to the control panel/users and change it in your profile - you can always put it back later.0 -
Thanks - trouble is - we can't remove the password without typing the password in, and we can't do that :-( I need a drink!
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.SW: Wk1 (5) Wk2 (2.5) Wk3 - Wk 4 (4) Wk 5 - (1.5) Wk 6 (1) Total off 1 stone!:j0 -
Use System Restore
and you can use the on-screen keyboard:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Ease Of access > On-Screen KeyboardHow do I add a signature?0 -
Thank you, found the onscreen keyboard with your instructions.
I've rebooted it and it still doesn't work.
Will System Restore delete the programs I have put on - the internet security, my photos, itunes etc?

It will remove any programs added since the date/time of the restore point you choose.
Data (documents/photos/videos/music) will not be affected.How do I add a signature?0 -
Figment - I LOVE YOU! Thank you - my keyboard is back!
Thank you everyone who helped me! The touchpad problem is sort of still there but in comparison to having no keyboard it's not a problem, and I think my tech days might be over before they've really begun!
thanks - I'm off for a lie down in a darkened room and an alcoholic beverage! :-)SW: Wk1 (5) Wk2 (2.5) Wk3 - Wk 4 (4) Wk 5 - (1.5) Wk 6 (1) Total off 1 stone!:j0 -
