A Bacs payment is an automated payment (no human input) & your bank have no way of checking the details you are giving them, so if the details were wrong they could possibly go into someone elses account or a suspense account possibly.

With a Chaps payment there is human input as it is more of a manual payment. Witht he Chaps if any details didn't match teh receiving bank would reject the funds straight back to where they came from.

The only way a bank should be accepting a Bacs payment is with a pre-printed bank giro credit slip.

It is all for yours (& the banks safety) believe it or not.

    Write a cheque!?

I get fed up with Barclays on-line banking limit, it's stopped me making 2 payments recently (1 well under £1000) for 'my own protection'! LOL!

So I've written cheques & paid them in / sent them instead. Takes a day or so longer but costs me no different & costs them more to process! Duh!
