renewing car insurance

Hi this is my first time so hope it is ok.
My son who is 20yrs old has had a car insurance 10 month policy where at the end he gets 12 months no claims bonus. He passed his test in september. When he asked his insurers for a quote they won't give him one until 2 weeks before this one runs out, so he rang a few and they won't insure him because he has a 10 month policy and not 12.
Please can anyone help. thanks

Maybe try to find other insurers who do a 10 month scheme too? I know Admiral does them, and I'm pretty sure there must be some others out there.

Otherwise, renew and caompare again in two months! Just make sure you check for any cancellation penalties.

The chances are that he's with Admiral, Elephant, Bell or (unlikely in his case, due to being a bloke an' all) Diamond.

For the last three years, one of this group of companies has always been far and away the most competitive for me. However, last year I switched from one to another to get essentially a "new customers'" rate, which my existing insurer said they would match, but I declined.

That way he should get his no claims after 10 months and a lower premium - and next time he can get an annual policy and transfer it to whomever he pleases.

If he got his insurance in September (as opposed to passing his test) then his new policy won't start until July and there's not much point in getting quotes until a month before as most companies' quotes are only valid for 30 days.

    Thanks for all replies
His insurance started in june with admiral and he passed his test in sept. He has also done his pass plus but admiral won't accept it that was the reason he was trying with other insurers.
