cylinder head gasket possibly gone :(
our car has been losing water and overheating - twice in the last month. Garage today say they cant find any leaks which may mean its leaking into the engine which may mean the cylinder head gasket has gone. This will cost a fortune to put right so I'm seeking a second opinion from another garage. Anyone have any tips on what to do or ideas how much it should cost to sort out incl labour?

if first garage dont have means to confirm a leak then they are nothing but baboons
go to another garage
now
with costings for unknown vehicles i always start at a million pounds but suggest there might be some change0 -
depends on the type/make of car your talking about.any competent garage should be able to do a sniff/chemical check on the collent,to see if it contains any carburrants to check for possible failure0

Depends on the car and how common it is. Its common with Rovers and Fiats for example so garages know what they are doing. If you have allowed the car to overheat a couple of times then the head might be warped adding to the cost, it is usually possible to skim the head though.0

Is it a Rover?
If so its around a £350-400 job. 0
