Camping in the Lake District

Hello all

I'm looking for a camp site in the lake district for a few days away in June (not half term) for my husband and I and another couple.

We are all in our early 20's and into mountain biking/climbing/exploring etc.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

It's a while since I've been there but I liked the one at Langdale, you're in the middle of the mountains and the pub is close by. I've also used Wasdale Head (very soggy when I was there but you can't really blame the site for the weather) Coniston, Glenridding, Borrowdale - all of these close to the high mountains - and Bassenthwaite, which was a nice site with a good pub close by, but slightly away from the hills. Oh, just remembered Buttermere as well!

I decided to do a bit more research for you (but also for me as I'm hoping to persuade my camping companions, most of us now in our 50s and 1 who is now 60, to give it a try again this year). I think these are the ones I stayed at, but the memory fades when you get to my age.

    Langdale National Trust campsite

    Wasdale National Trust campsite

    Coniston Hall campsite

    Gillside campsite, Glenridding

    Seatoller campsite, Borrowdale

Bassenthwaite - I found 2 sites but I'm not sure which, if either, of them was the one I used - it was 20 years ago so things may have changed since then!

    Syke Farm campsite, Buttermere

    Hi

We have been camping in the lakes for the last 2 years and have camped at Park Foot on Ullswater. It is a large site right on the lake. You can walk into Pooley Bridge where there are a few small shops and a couple of nice pubs. Aira force is close by and definately worth a trip.

Theres a camp site at pooley bridge, I think its called The Quiet site. If you look on campingcheques website they take cheques so you can stay out of season for around £15 per night which is much cheaper than other sites in this area. Worth a look.
