Recycle Bin On Pc - Cannot View Files

Hi everyone.
I'm sure this is a simple one - but I can't seem to see the wood for the trees!
On my PC (running Windows XP), when I go into my recycle bin there are no files to view. When I click on 'empty recycle bin' I am asked 'do you want to delete all these files' (which makes me think there is actually something in the bin), I click on OK, but when I click on 'empty recycle bin' again - I get the same message 'do you want to delete all these files' - however the list is showing empty and I cannot suss out how to show the files in the bin.
I'm trying to have a bit of a 'clean up' - cookies, old files etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with this one?:o
Many thanks.

Don't know, but you could try https://www.ccleaner.com which cleans the lot up in one go..
If you install it, untick the yahoo toolbar option that comes up during the install (unless you want/have it)Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Boot to "Command prompt only" via pressing F8 as the PC is giving the BIOS messages but before the Windows screen.
The following command will delete the recycle bin's folder for all profiles. It will be recreated when you restart windows.
rmdir c:\recycler /sRich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.0 -
Hi,
check this out: right click recycle bin> properties> global, make sure that ' Do not move files to the recycle bin: Remove files immediately when deleted ' is not ticked, unless of course this is what you want.
I prefer to have things in the bin for a day or two just incase I have to go back for them, mind you I'm the same with household stuff. :rotfl:0 -
