Means testing by independant school ?

Does that mean they still want to offer a bursary or not until she's 6th form age? Would you be happy with her changing schools when she must already be in yr 9 or 10?

Yeah - be careful. I once got a job teaching at a tiny independent prep and pre-prep school... worst career move I ever made - half the staff actively hated kids (one would refer to kids as "little scroats" in private, but was all Mary Poppins in front of the parents and played that game very well), the head was distinctly bonkers (I came across her lying on the school staircase pointing at the ceiling in sheer bliss one evening after-school), the resources were shambolic (I ended up teaching Maths out of the same textbooks I used at primary school in the 1980s) and the whole place was, well, what my mother would describe as "all fur coat and no knickers" - ie a triumph of front show but no substance underneath.

Having said that - I've worked at another one that was fantastic - but the little shambolic one was the worst career move I've ever made!
