seller saying they are in uk but aren't!

hey guys,
last week i bought 3 dvds off a seller. they had their location down as Reading, UK. I paid for them all together with joint postage and a day later i got an email saying that they had been posted.

well, today i received one of the dvds and it came in a padded envelope from hong kong! the seller hadn't stated that they were from hong kong - it wasan english dvd it had just been posted from hong kong.

to be honest, i'm quite annoyed that they didn't say beforehand - i specifically buy from uk sellers only as it's quicker. also, i'm quite puzzled as to why only one has arrived and the other two haven't.

I've emailed the seller and am waiting for their reply.

Anyone got any comments/advice? am i wrong to be a little mad?

Ta,
K xxx

whats the problem? You got the product you expected, at the price you wanted, with the agreed price for postage and them arriving today from paying last week isn't that long a wait - even if they were in the uk.

If this kind of thing annoys you I'd hate to see how you'd be if you got a product that wasn't as described or took a couple of weeks to arrive.

i just think it's not right to pretend you are in the uk when you aren't and i just wonder why they have sent them seperately rather than together, that's all.

It's called location misrepresentation and it's a reportable offence.

This is one of the many reasons why ebay is flooded by bulk asian listings.

Go here and paste in the item no: and make sure you mention it in feedback.

I hate sellers who lie about location. I purchased 2 items not so long ago. Item location said Leeds. When the item arrived it had been posted from Turkey. When I queried this with the seller all he/she said was they had been over to Turkey on business where they happened to have more stock and posted it from there to avoid me waiting

Has the seller replied to your email yet kittykate?

It doesn't matter too much with smaller things like DVDs, but with larger items you are quite likely to be charged for importing them. If you believe that something is in the UK, then you will not be expecting that (reasonably large) extra cost.
I still think that it's wrong all the time, as the buyer is obviously being mislead.

    thanks guys,

they haven't replied to my email yet. the second dvd arrived today so i bet the last one arrives tomorrow.

I'm glad other people have felt the same as me. when i bought the dvds i expected the guy to send them all together from reading - like i paid for. not all seperately from hong kong. :-/ guess it's been made worse since season 4 arrived yesterday and 3 arrived today. i wanted series 2 so i could watch it!!! lol.

i'm gonna use that link when the last one has arrived.

    thanks again!

this happened to me when i bought i ps2 game. thought i was buying an english game-it arrived with japanise writing on the envelope and the game is a different region. never sent it back cost too much to return. ive still got it in the protective cover(if anyone wants to make me an offer!!!-call of duty 2)
  • I once bought Yu-Gi-Oh! cards on my son's behalf from a seller who listed UK as item location. An empty envelope arrived from the USA, the contents apparently having been stolen in transit, and the seller refused to refund so I had to claim through Paypal.
I think problems are more likely with overseas transactions, but even if the goods arrived safely, as described and in reasonable time, I'd still be a bit annoyed if the location was misrepresented.
