104 was the lowest score for Grosvenor quoted by the Belfast Telegraph, but the school's website and prospectus both said it was 103. Our DS has 104 (with special circumstances due to illness just before and for a week after the first test, which may or may not be accepted given that there were 3 tests - his score was certainly not commensurate with his results in the standardised tests in P5 and P6). Sullivan is his first choice and the lowest score there last year was 100 but because of the pool system they use to determine the last 30 places there is a possibility he may miss out. He goes to one of the feeder primaries but doesn't have a brother or sister at the school (his 21 year old brother did attend the school but this no longer counts as part of the criteria). We would also be very happy with Grosvenor, which is his second choice, but obviously the cut off there last year was higher. With regard to the lower birth rate for 2000-2001, there is one less P7 class in my son's primary school (which is a feeder for both Sullivan and Grosvenor) than last year so this is quite encouraging! His third choice is Wellington and we would also be happy enough with this if it wasn't for the fact that his friends (who all scored higher than him) are headed for the other two schools. But I know from the experience of my two older children that the friends they transfer with from primary school aren't necessarily the ones they keep in their new school so we are trying to keep an open mind and trust it will all work out for the best.0 -
So heard today that our local secondary has filled its quota this year! First time in a few years! Also turning a few away! Could this mean the local grammars intake scores have risen? Or a move away from the integrated? Really panicking now! So close to d day!0

Eeeek so nervous now! Really hope my daughters gets into her first choice grammar!0

Do the letters really come out on Monday? Anyone else not think that this is strange when in previous years they always came out on a SAturday? Our children will be in school on monday so hardly seems fair to make them have to sit a full day at school knowing their letters are at home with their parents? I have never known this ever to happen on a weekday before? Has it??0

Caz100,
The letters are sent out from the Education Boards on 28th, so we won't get them until Tues 29th. A day later again I'm afraid and the kids still have to sit through school without knowing!0 -
Perhaps it is for the best in some cases as parents can prepare how to break the news!0
