People asking for a BIN Buy it Now Price in Auction

I had this happen recently.
Buyer asked what i would accept to "Buy it Now" as they really wanted the item for a wedding at the weekend. I said i had no price in mind and what price were they thinking.
They came back to me and said ""£25 to end the listing" I then ended my auction and set up a buy it now for the buyer for £25 plus my normal P&P charges.
She is now refusing to buy the bag as she does not want to pay the P&P but no where had it been said before that the £25 was the price for the item and the postage.
Moral of story if you do end an auction for someone and agree a price. Make sure you confirm P&P charges are or arent included!!
Ebay is a minefield sometimes!!

Thanks to ebay forcing a BIN to be, at least, 40% of the listing price on private sales it probably wouldn't be viable for your bidder anyway.

Obviously you can't add a BIN once she/he has bid. You could, as said earlier, 'sell it to the highest bidder' but if they wanted it for a certain time that would definitely mean Special Delivery so you'd have to be sure that they would pay that.

I did something similar as a buyer, I wanted an outfit for a christening and made a separate payment for the special delivery side - you see, some of us are honest

40% of 99p is 40p though, so anything above £1.40 would fulfill that criteria.

Well, I was kind of assumed that we were talking a little more than a 99p item........

I had the same as an earlier poster......I agreed a BIN price, changed my auction (ie paid for a BIN), and never heard from them again.

Just remember that to end up in the same place it will cost the buyer even more as FVF will need to be paid on the postage element too, for 1st small packet rate at 10% FVF its an extra 30p, and those 30ps will soon add up if you forget about them.

Also remember that many buyers will take postage fees into account when bidding (i.e. they may bid £5 on a free postage item and only 3.80 if postage cost 1.20)

I think it comes down to if its an auction or a BIN, for a BIN, best Match comes into it alot more as many times with Auctions it will be sorted by Time ending soonest anyway.
