brush it off lol... they probably have about ten cards themselves and a shitload of debt.

    That's more than likely.

Its bad enough that people judge others but the colour of the plastic in yer wallet is truly a shallow way of doing it. I'd point out to them that their comments say far more about their character than they do about your finances.

lawstudent. When I read your original post, I was tickled pink about the snobby people at work. I just couldn't resist myself and was having a bit of harmless fun. It was not my intention to be nasty or try to belittle you. If I have offended you, I sincerely apologise.

I am sure that you are a nice young man, as am I, although not so young in my case but not old either. I must say however, you are very young to be the boss at work!!:D
You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)

    No worries :)

Yes, it is true I am very young but I am also good at my job and worked hard for it. Which is why I am the boss and the person who made the comment is not :p

You do know that you can get another card, but still keep your Barclaycard too?

Have you thought of a student account at another bank (if you are a student)?

when I graduated, I was offered an amex gold card. I got rid of it some years down the road though, as you had to pay a yearly fee. It did look nice in my wallet though;-)

Now I like cards (incl my barclaycard) that give me cash back, free flights, tesco points- even one gives me amazon vouchers. I don't carry a balance on any of them, I just use them when I want the freebies.

I have had Cash, flights, hotel nights, xmas gifts- even a free laptop.

Ask not what colour your card is- ask what your card can give you ;-)

Who said anything about a higher limit than me? I wouldn't know tbh but I'm very happy with mine, never gonna use that much anyway. They may have a card that sparkles but I bought my Mercedes outright at the age of 19 (that sparkles too :D ) having worked since the age of 13 (weekends).

Coincidentally I was signing people up for credit/store cards at the age of 16! There are a lot of credit agreements that I signed which are not worth the paper they are written on because I was not 18 at the time.

Atush - I have considered another card provider but I don't really think it's worth the hassle. In a few months I turn 21 anyway and Barclaycard have always been agreeable with me. Shame they have this silly policy about being 21.

Its an absolute !!!!! being young and also having authority. Anyone older than you has this "does not compute" look on their face and can't comprehend that they are being instructed by a young'un. I'm currently on the rise in my job, and I know for a fact that when I get my promotion (which will take me "above" several people in one fell swoop, including the guy who I once answered to) several people are going to be bent out of shape by it and will not take me seriously, just because of my age + length of time at the company.

In some ways I envy lawstudent and in others I pity them as I know what its like to be young and good at what you do - people naturally don't like you for it.
    Oh, you wee bazza!

OK I couldn't stand it any longer I had to see if it was just Barclaycard or if anywhere else had a loathing of people under 21. Just got approved for a Lloyds Platinum card even though I don't bank with them! Shame on you Barclays/Barclaycard, I've banked with you for nearly a decade! I can sparkle at work now too ;)

Is it not a balance transfer card you've been accepted for?

Only if you ask them to do a balance transfer which I did not because I don't have a balance to transfer. Has a 0% purchase rate too but I won't be using that either because I only spend what I can afford.
