Halifax Share ineptitude

Hi, I'm incredibly angry with Halifax.
My Gran passed away last October and I applied for probate which was subsequently granted just before Christmas.
I'd previously notified Halifax of the death so they could hold the account pending the grant of probate.
I had an appointment with them in a branch 28/12/06 to close her accounts and arrange for the shares to be transferred into my name to be sold and distributed as per the terms of the will.
The accounts were done there and then with promises that the info would go to Share Dealing shortly and they would be in touch within a couple of weeks.
I had not heard anything, so I went into a branch and they sent an email to chase the matter up. 2 weeks later, still nothing so I decided to phone Share Dealing. They state they only received the info from Halifax 31/1/07, and had allocated a month to action the work as the death had not been verified (despite a copy of the will, death certificate and grant of probate being supplied to a branch).
Well the month has been and gone, I've still not heard from Share Dealing and the share prices are plummeting.
My question is: what are my chances of them recompensing the estate for the loss of value of the shares as a result of their poor administration - over 2 months to transfer and sell some shares? I don't think so.
I would like them to sell the shares, then make a payment to bring their value to what they would have been had they sold them when they should.
Any ideas?
I am not a benefactor in the will by the way.
