Share chimney & neighbours satellite dish

Hi all,
Please would someone confirm that a shared chimney stack follows the normal rules in terms of shared ownership and that I am well within my rights to ask my neighbor to move their satellite dish that overhands my side?
Unfortunately the current position is the only place I can put a satellite due to other obstacles.
Thanks

can you not put your dish above or below theirs? does it have to be in the exact same spot?
your come across as agitated in your post. are you on good terms with your neighbour? you are within your rights to ask your neighbour to remove anything over hanging your property but is it worth it, how much does the dish overhang your property? can you see it out of your window? does it block a view?0 -
Don't approach this from a "your dish encroaches 0.56 inches over the centre line of the chimney" angle. Thats sure to win zero cooperation. He probably doesn't even know it does if the installer just went up there and bunged the bracket on any old where.
Far better to approach it with a friendly chat over a cuppa and a plate of EIDs best homemade cakes. There will be costs associated with moving his dish and it will need to be realigned. Offer to share those costs or get your fitter to move and realign it (with neighbour's permission of course) bunging him a few quid for the work.

Not that technical with satelite, but can't you put 2 LNB's on same dish and run them to seperate sky systems? Saves all the hassle if you can.

Plus saves you buying cakes !0 -

You can't really put 2 on but you can get LNB's with 8 outputs so could well be an option for the OP.0 -

Thank you for all the replies.
I didnt realise that my posted read as agitated. Thats the problem with rushing I think ;-)
Unfortunately my dish has to go on the chimney stack and due to the placement of the neighbours I cant get mine on. There just isnt the room above or below without a highly inappropriate bracket.
I fully expect the neighbor not to be aware and put the blame on the original installer whenever it was done. I dont think the neighbour will have even thought about it/noticed it. Its not as if you would deliberately ask for it to be done that way.
Neighbors seam nice though so hopefully positive outcome. Typical trade of between needing something and not wanting to agitate people.
Cheers once again.0 -

Unfortunately I putting on a 8lnb just for my house. Unfortunately freeview just appears to be unreliable so0 -
cant you use a longer pole mounted on a wall?..(preferably so it obscures his dish (lol))0

Is the chimney strong enough to support 2 dishes in windy weather?
Even though current dishes are perforated they still cause an appreciable wind resistanceThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Thats is a question I will be checking with the installer. The vast majority of the time the prevailing wind will not be hitting the dishes so I am hoping for a positive.0
