Help with getting train tickets for my mother

    Might be too late for this suggestion now but if you buy yourself an online gift voucher for an online ticket site you can then buy the tickets with it.

    To collect tickets bought with a voucher any debit/credit card can be used as long as you have the reference number ;)

    From a recent ticket booking e-mail:
    If you have paid using an e-voucher and selected Ticket on Departure as your delivery method, you will need your booking reference number and any card to collect your tickets from a TOD-enabled station

    Your mother could change at Stratford International on to a London Overground service to Clapham Junction (or Richmond if easier) then catch a train from there to Reading but this would need multiple split tickets,
    I'm not sure it would need multiple tickets, as there is an argument to say the shortest route by rail would be via Stratford, Willesden, Richmond, Reading. You are right, it would be time consuming though.
