Motorhoming around Spain.. any tips?

Hi

My bro is about to set off for Spain in his campervan in couple of weeks, and was just wanting to know if anyone had any tips/advice for him? Its his first time doing anything like this so anything from cash advice to crime to caravan parks would be useful.

Buy one of the Motorhome mags (MMM is good) for under a fiver. It will full of tips and links for people going abroad in their motorhomes.

The only advice I would give is,make sure the campervan is VERY secure,fit gas alarms and do not park on motorway service stations overnight,Spain is the biggest hot spot for vans being robbed and gassed while the occupants are asleep,we had a lucky escape in France,we disturbed two men breaking into the front of the van,the sight of my DH in his underpants scared them off LOL.
Touring is a great experience,as long as he knows the risks,he should be fine.Try to park where other motorhomes are parked in a well lit area.Most service stations have motorhome service points where you can fill with water,empty waste etc,much better than England.
