I have just had pre payment meters fitted for my gas & electricity after getting a huge combined gas/electric of £2400  I really didnt like the idea of pre payment meters but i had no choice to having them fitted . I just have a few questions npower said they would set my pre payment meters to pay £3 off my dept also npower have a standing charge which is also taken off your credit so i have put £20 on my gas card today put it in the meter and my meter is now showing the £20 credit , why has the meter not took the £3 off and the standing charge ? Also i wanted to know from other people who have pre payment meters how much do you put on your cards every week ?? I know in time i will work it out myself on how much i need to put on my cards but i just wanted an idea , we live in a 3 bedroom semi . I understand everyones will be different but i just want an idea what other people put onto there cards weekly . I have been really upset about having to have these meters fitted but i am thinking now maybe it was the right thing to do as i wont be worried about my bills coming every quarter , just needing reasurrance & advice from anyone with meters , are you glad now you have them ?

The Actaris meter prepay can be set to take the standing charge of as you use it.If screen "F" shows £0000 its set to take it off in screen "H" at approx 25 p a kwhr and not a weekly standing charge. There is excellent info online regarding the timings of the debt payment on these meters
