no limit except your available funds. Pay £100 on a credit card as well and then you will have added consumer protection from your credit card company that you won't get using a debit card.

A limit to what can be withdrawn? Are you paying with your debit card or with cash? There is normally a limit to how much cash you can withdraw from a cash machine - is that what you mean?
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

I bought my last two cars on a debit card. There is no limit at all, providing you have available funds in your bank account.

Ten years ago, when I spent £10K on a car, the dealer had to phone the card issuer for confirmation and I had to answer some security questions on the phone. More recently (this month) spending over £5K, the process was simpler now that we have chip and PIN. I entered my PIN into their terminal, just like paying the bill at a restaurant and all was well. Job done and no fee to pay.

Some dealers charge a fee for credit cards, so debit cards will save you money, although you lose the consumer protection that credit gives you.

I also had to answer some security questions over the phone when paying for a car with a debit card, but that was several years ago. The dealer was used to it and expected something like that anyway. I'd already made sure the funds were available and there was no problem.

As said before, pay the first £100 with a credit card, you then have section 75 protection for the whole of the purchase.

I paid for my last car by debit card, but I did ask if I would be allowed to pay by credit card so as to get some cash back. He said they had a limit of £2,500 on CC's because of the cost to them.

My last car I paid the deposit on a Credit Card (Cashback) and the main balance on my Debit Card.

If you have cleared fund in your current account (Debit Card Account) there should be a problem.
