Why don't you stop making excuses ?
I feel really sorry for your wife.

Plenty of people (me included) work bloody hard at jobs that are far from ideal -but we don't whine and make excuses at every turn -we just get on with it ! Yes sometimes life isn't "fair" but most people work that out before they leave their teens and get on with it !

Perhaps you should think about what kind of example you are setting your kids with your lack of focus and work ethic.

Lack of work ethic you say, I've been unemployed twice in 16 years for less than 6 months in total, I'd say that's pretty decent.

Well at least you don't have to work a 9 hour day and then do an hour in the gym - see you are saving time for your studies already!

Basically lifting lumps of trees onto a conveyor belt and cutting them down, try it for 9 hours per day, beats any gym :)

    Is that at NMW?

No, its at £6.20 not far of I guess, but quite far of the advertised £8.50, and as I say when he asked how much I was looking I just said as advertised, he said he had a string of people lined up for the job so take this or on you go basically.

In fairness to you falko, I was lumping round huge tree trunks the other day on a tiny little 4 wheel trolley (not even with air tyres but solid ones). That was bloody hard graft with just two of us.

I (and many others here) owe you an apology. Your initial posts came across as just whining that you had to go and do *a* job yet had you made it clear the sort of work you were in I think many of us would of had a lot more respect for your complaint. I am sorry for my recent rants, I (and others) were clearly very wrong and now I feel like a judgemental ****.

See, there's something else you've kept quiet too. You've not promoted your good points on here enough for us to get it through our thick heads that you're actually a grafter.

If anyone else is reading this post who's given falko a hard time, I think now might be a good time to have some decency.

so you have been posting about being depressed about not having a job for weeks and weeks now.

it's easier to get a job when you are in a job, than when you are on the dole.

    swallow it.
What's your evidence for this? The implication seems to be that more jobs appear if you are in work, somehow, as if by magic.

Telling people to 'swallow' a job they are fundamentally not suited for is a fool's errand; better to help people find the right sort of work - and the right employee. This benefits noone.

Hi, Falko did mention the type of job he was doing in posts 8 & 14, sorry to be picky but I think sometimes posts are not read properly and people pick out bits they only want to read :(

I dont know if you have considered this but have you thought about tree surgery as self employment? you are obviously strong enough as you can lift tree trunks etc and have carpentry skills.
I have 2 friends who do this, 1 is self employed and another works for himself. The guy who is self employed always has work on as someone always needs a big tree cutting down! You would need to drive though.

The thought never crossed my mind to be honest, I know the electricity company pay these guys good money.

Explains why I missed it - I read the first 4-5 posts and then skip to the last page. As said, Emmzi's post got in early enough to pain an image in most peoples head hence my last reply.
