How do I change my sort code number.
I opened a current account with Halifax online a few weeks back, and the sortcode was allocated to the branch nearest my house.
However as I have to now use two current accounts with Halifax I opened one. Today at a branch outside where I live yet I still have the sortcode of the branch nearest my house.
I want to change it to the other branches sortcode as I know having two of the same codes will confuse me. How do I go about getting it changed

Can't you name the accounts differently online and just mark-up the cheque book and debits cards for each account? If the same sort code is going to be a problem then I'd think twice about being able to manage two current accounts effectively.0

Can you cope with two different 8-digit account numbers? If so, just consider the sort code part of the account number, i.e. cope with 2 different 14 digit numbers.
If not, ask Halifax whether they can transfer your old account to you new branch.
If they don't offer such a service, you'd need to close your old account and open a new one at your current branch.
Both those options might be confusing though................0 -
Oh ok. I'll see if they can change the branch. I opened it in the second branch so I assumed I would have their sortcode rather than my current one0

Not sure if it same as some other banks have dealt with but often you are given same sort code as a "home" branch regardless as where later accounts are opened, so it's likely that even if you asked to move one account to a different one, both would changeMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0

How often do you think you will need to use your sortcode?0

It doesn't make any difference what branch its registered to.0

I'd have thought two accounts with the same sort code might be marginally easier. At least you'll never accidentally transpose the sort codes.Stompa0

I opened two accounts with Halifax online and they both have different sort codes!
Doing a lookup of them, one says W.Yorks and the other says Leeds. Neither of them are anywhere near where I live. Although I don't suppose they are that far apart.0 -

Are you sure Halifax sort codes are allocated by branch in the first place - it could be by type of account.
Even with the larger banks it's possible for several branches to share one sort code. Or for one branch to have several sort codes,0
