Land of Leather - warranty?

Hi,
I am looking to buy the Kimberley sofa range (£699 for a 3,2,1 recliner set), does anyone have any experience of their Ultimate Care warranty. Its £160 for 5 years and covers accidental damage, although the sales person said it is "unlimited use", I thought I would double check.
Also, has anyone bought the Kimberley sofa range, pros and cons?
TIA

wont you be covered under your house insurance for accidental damage ?0

I would have a look at the policy yourself. Friends bought a warranty for their leather suite elsewhere and were told it covered pen when the policy specifically said it did not. I would want to read it for myself. Your household insurance should cover you for accidental damage so it could be a waste of £160.I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!0

As I am a recent FTB, I dont know how household insurance works. I have buildings insurance not contents, although this is comething we will be getting soon. Do I get penalised in anyway if I did claim under my house insurance? i.e at renewal time, higher costs etc:j BABY A :j0

I have had my leather suite for 2 years, a couple of weeks ago one of the seats made a funky sound, and I was unable to sit on it. I was freakin out, I have the 5 yr warranty, but I had heard some bad things regarding the service provided by the insurance company. I gave them a call on a Mon, they sent someone out on the Thurs. I was a bit miffed because I was told that HE would phone me to arrange a time, I ended up phoning several times.
He was really pleasant, very chatty, took pics of the problem (spring) showed and told me exactly what he was doing. He was finished within 20 min.0 -

Sorry, he fixed it. It was the spring, one end of it had come out of its holder thing. He showed me exactly where it should be. He was great. This is the only warranty I have ever bought- I usually don't believe in them. But having a small child in the house I thought it would be a safer bet- turned out to be right:T0 -
Got one of the mastarcare policies from Reids Furniture and have had nothing but problems... We took it because it had pet damage but when our cats went mad because someone threw a firework at our windows they refused to pay out. We were told thier defenition of pet damage was a single scratch, nick or bite .. any more and it wasnt covered. We have went through the T&C and even asked for written confirmation of the definitions but they wont give us any. They have now told us our warranty lasts for another 3 years but we cant claim for anything as the suite is now damaged.... We are currently in the process of going to the Ombudsman0

Hi Baby,
I would not touch Land of Leather with a barge pole! To back this up type Land of Leather in Google and click on the fourth article down.
With regards to the Warranty, it is umlimited use up to the value of the sofa, so if you call them out and it requires a £100.00 worth of work they would only come out seven times. However, if you called them out and it cost £699.00 to repair that would be a one time visit.
I know that LOL is tempting because it is cheap but the goods that will be delivered to you WILL NOT be the same quality as the display models seen instore.
The sales people in LOL are very pushy on the Warranties because basically they have to sell these to make any money and secure their jobs.
Sorry to dampen your spirits but will save you a lot of hassle in the long run.
Good Luck on your choices. If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' someone else's dog around!0 -
We bought a sofa from Land of Leather early 2004, one arm broke but was fixed very soon and very well. They didnt push any warrenties on us and we paid cash. Only argument i had was that paying all that in cash they still charged us for delivery! Apart from that was problem free for us.Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110
