Travel insurance for 6 month trip?

The MSE travel insurance pages don't seem to include anything for long trips. I will be in Europe for 6 months (Germany, Austria, Slovenia probably... plan subject to change).
Anyone got any tips or recommendations? I have been trawling through websites but a recommendation would be preferred. Plus a lot of companies require you call up to get a quote, it's very time-consuming.
I will be driving so will have 2 bikes (worth about £300 each) and a paragliding kit (worth about £2k), and nothing else particularly valuable. I require cover for sports i.e. cycling, mountain biking, hiking and paragliding.
Thanks for any help

Hi
Try a local insurance broker. They should have access to providers of suitable insurance and will do all the legwork for you.0 -

The problem you will have will be the equipment - £2K for the paragliding kit (assuming it is a single article) is well above most travel insurance policies. The highest Single Article Limit I have found is £750. You may, however find that you can cover the kit under your home insurance all-risks package as often cover in Europe can be unlimited. If that is possible then a long-stay travel insurance policy will be preferable to a standard one. I did find http://www.perkins-slade.com/for-sports/sports-quote who will cover the equipment - for £87.19 - but don't know enough about it to recommend the policy.
As for long stay travel insurance itself - well there is a broker site offering a range of policies through many of the insurance broker schemes http://www.portwood.co.uk/travel-insurance/online-quotation-system.htm but you would have to peruse the policy summaries and documents to ensure that the activities that you require are covered. (I think the policy provided by COE Connections will cover paragliding at normal terms - 6 months cover is £122.00 - but you must fit in their age requirements).0 -

You must think we were all born yesterday.
This "broker site" you keep mentioning is actually your own company - which you are happy to associate yourself with elsewhere on the net, yet try to fool us you are here just to help, though you never forget to give us your link when you do your spamming!0
