Went with the kids few weeks ago, was good. Last visit was about 25 years ago and I was prop the same age as my little ones are now.

Plenty of accomodation in the reigon. Pickering is the place to stay is you want to go up Grosmont way. The NYMR isn't cheap but is is a great experience.

we went to Eden Camp intending on only staying a couple of hours as we had a long drive home( last day of our break). We were there for about 4 hours. really interesting place.

This is a great place but can also be scary for children depending on their nature.
As others have said Pickering is a good base, the area has loads for tourists, shame you are only staying 1 night, we would have gladly had you in our holiday cottage.

We went to Eden Camp the other year and stayed at the Bean Sheaf in Pickering:

I'd recommend both Eden Camp and the hotel :)
