When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning  hope you all had a lovely weekend and are raring to go again - anyone else ever feel like they are on a hamster wheel??? I had a lovely weekend :T managed to convince oh o paint the lounge and we did 75% of it :j now just need to do the last wall red after work tonight :D

    • [STRIKE]Check online banking[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Clean up old highchair and guinea pig cage ready to go on Gumtree[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Bake bread[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]All meals from stores[/STRIKE]
    • Get some painting done once children in bed (I sell a bit as an artist)
    • Give kitchen a good clean!
    • Try to manage without turning the heating up! Wish this cold wet weather would pass!
    • Try and bump up my Swagbucks.

Have a good day everyone :)
  • Morning all! Thanks to dnms for starting us off.

It's nice too see everyone painting (albeit in different ways).

Well I was in work on Sunday doing overtime (but counts as ms because extra £50 in the bank :) )
OH very stressed over his assessments. Says if he has to listen to "From this moment" again he will go potty so he is suitably grouchy today. You ever get that feeling that you arer glad to be in work to get out of their way? :rotfl:

Anyway, today's ms schemes are mostly the usual:

Check onepoll (only like 45p left to go!)

    Lunch from stores

Dinner - stores totally depleted. Must get a large-ish shop after work. Have run out of all cheese, meat, eggs, coffee , fresh veg. Plus did not make bread at the weekend and OH didn't either after I asked him to.

    Charging phone at work

Might do some sort of cooking tonight after work, but let's be honest, will probably not. :o

    Have good one all

Well I'm new to this so here goes

    Take DD for her jabs
    Check online banking
Ring sky to reduce our tariff..if they will
Ring 02 and do as above
List some more bits on personal eBay account
Have a look at basic current accounts with all banks bar barclays..
Go through cupboards and see what we have and can use instead of doing a full shop and them getting left

And do some business related things, post some bits and pieces off that have sold on the eBay shop over weekend etc!

Morning everyone! It's not raining AND the sun is out!!!! :)

Posting late today as I'm not at work! :) Had the start of root canal treatment yesterday and thought it was going to be worse than it was so I book today off! Turns out it was fine! - although now stuck with a temp filling that doesn't fit my bite! Oh, and I got the prices wrong so I paid £17.50 less than I thought- am going to pay £10 off card and the rest I'm treating myself to the cinema today w/bf.

    List for today
    - check bank and update app/spreadsheet done
    - check cc's and update my new spreadsheet I've set up (spreadsheet nerd!) done
    - PAD - £1.50 into savings to pay off big card at end of week done
    - pay £40 onto natwest card for petrol for the month done
    - lunch at home
    - drink lots of water (I tend to not drink anything while I'm at home!)
    - LSD, will pop to shop to get cheap cinema snacks
    - spend nothing else
    - study this morning (if I can get myself out of bed)

Not sure weather to cancel the vanquis card or keep it for emergencies? My credit rating is so bad so thinking I should just cancel it so it looks like I only have 1 credit card? Will have to think about that...

I cancelled ours a few months back and in the course of the phonecall they dropped the price about three times before admitting defeat and letting me cancel! I could have called back within my months notice period and reinstated the service at the best price they gave me too... so don't be afraid to push it with them would be my advice ;)

  • Good morning all

I'm getting more and more sporadic posting on the forums but I really do need it to keep me on the straight and narrow. Weather is quite gloomy outside, but at least the rain has stopped for the moment.
    Here's my list for today:
:) Stick to my diet (very important because my motivation has done a runner and wedding is only 4 months now)
:) Check bank - payday! Thank goodness...
:) Batch cooked yesterday so all meals from stores
    :) Aim for nsd
:) Washing done, note for OH to put it on airer
:) Go out for a walk (who knows?)
:) Help my sister set up a budget - she has no debt but really wants to save a deposit to get a mortgage. I've told her to join up here as it will really help her.
    Have a good day everyone.
