problems with windows mail!

When I try to send an email through windows mail the widows security box opens and asks for my username and login. When I enter this the message attempts to send then fails then the box pops up again asking for login details to verify the details are correct for my mail server.

Does anyone know how to stop this and get mail working again. I have deleted the account and set up again as a new user and checked all settings are correct but it still does not work and my mail provider is unable to help.

Try again with yr antivirus email scanning temporarily turned off.


If your email provider has a webmail facility, try signing on there. If successful, then maybe its an error in mailbox server address, or for some email providers, eg BTyahoo, it maybe that your outgoing mail requires authentication (see email account settings, then the server tab, at the bottom the authentication box requires a tick). Also, less likely, but most email providers (advanced tab) use port 25 for sending email, what is yrs set to?

If it still fails, then the best thing to do in that case is call your ISP.

Thank you Robmar0se. Now I can receive email. However I still cannot send email. I had originally contacted my isp and tried several things but they could not resolve my problem. As I am half way there does anyone know what else I can try to enable me to send emails.
